Small sized lizards

Up till now, six different small-sized lizard species have been identified, and they are almost exclusively known based only on jaw elements. Most of them belongs to the infraorder Scincomorpha (similarly to today’s sand lizard, frequent in Hungary), and within that, to extinct groups. The most abundant of them is the genus Bicuspidon, described earlier from Lower Cretaceous strata in North America and Upper Cretaceous sediments in the Haţeg Basin, Transylvania.
